Brooklyn

This project consisted of learning and following the production designer's design process in the pre-production stage of a film. We were given the script of an existing film that we hadn't watched before and come up with our own design for one of the sets in the film. I first started by carefully reading the script multiple times analyzing the visual components of the movie: How are visual components like space, line, shape, tone, and color, used to define the symbols and themes of the story? Next, I broke the script down into the multiple locations that would be needed for a film to see how many scenes take place in them. After choosing a set to design, I proceeded to make multiple mood boards and doing research to finally model in SketchUp and render my final concept in V-Ray.

"Brooklyn is the story of an Irish immigrant that lands in 1950s Brooklyn, where she quickly falls into a romance with a local. When her past catches up with her, however, she must choose between two countries and the lives that exist within."
