Student Productions

At the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) multiple student-led theater, televion, and film productions take place every quarter to help prepare students for real-world experience in the film and television industry.. These collaborative productions, some of whom have won student Emmy awards, involve students from the Film and Television, Performing Arts, Production Design, Dramatic Writing, and Sound Design departments, among others.

The SCAD School of Entertainment Arts presented a whimsical version of Kate Hamill's inventive adaptation of the classic novel, Sense and Sensibility. The set designer Michel Ruiz-del-Vizo decided to design a circular space with the audience seating around it in order to portray the play's dynamic comedy and quick scene changes.

Sense and Sensibility

The Buzz

The Buzz,  follows the story of three down-on-their-luck guys trying to navigate post-college life with help from characters at their local coffee shop. With more than 85 students and faculty mentoring students throughout the process, the show is one of the only multi-camera comedy series produced on a college campus and is shot in front of a live audience, making it one of the only universities in the nation to open its taping to the public. After winning a student Emmy award, The Buzz proceeded to tape season 2 in which they threw the characters into the world of high fashion.

The Foreigner

Written by Larry Shue, The Foreigner takes place in a fishing lodge in rural Georgia and tells the story of Sergeant "Froggy" LeSueur and Charlie Baker, his old English civilian pal with a pronounced social phobia. Designed by Zeke Waters, the set we built in the Mondanaro theater is supposed to make the audience feel like we're sitting inside an old bed and breakfast. To make the experience even more immersive, the cabins' logs extended twenty feet past the proscenium and into the house.
