Costa Café

When presented with the prompt of designing and fabricating a mask of any type, I was inspired by my cultural background and decided to design a Mexican Day of the Dead mask. Following the Huichol artisan tradition of making sculptures covering them with beads, I incorporated the colorful beads in some areas of my sugar skull design.

Originally conceived for a costumes class, the mask proceeded to decorate a table at El Mercadito, an annual cultural student event at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), organized to promote Latin American countries' culture and everything they have to offer to the world.
